vocalist / voice trainer akiko iwase

 

Akiko Iwase has performed as a professional vocalist since age 8.
in Japan, she belonged to one of the largest choir groups,
"Tokushima Children's Choir", for 7 years, from 1984 to 1991.
During those days, she had many performances at home and
in various places abroad, including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia,
Okinawa and Gifu, to name a few.

From 1990 to 2001, Akiko led several bands and performed
as vocalist and drummer in Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo, Tokushima and
other venues across Japan.
In 1998 she produced and performed at "The 14th Annual Asian Women's
Junior Basketball Championship Opening Ceremony."
In 1999 she produced and performed at "The Charity Concert and
Campaign for a Bone Marrow Bank. " Both of these events recieved
wide news, paper and radio covarage in Japan.

In 2002 Akiko eagerly arrived at Berklee College of Music and
began widening her musical opus through the study different styles
including Classical, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Gospel. Around the same time,
she periodically starred on three popular Japanese radio programs,
"Chotto Pajyama wa Hayasugiru!", "Doyo Wide Tokushima" (Shikoku
Broadcasting Co., Ltd.) and "Good Morning Saturday" (FM Tokushima).
While at Berklee Akiko futher polished her skills as a vocalist,
bandleader and performer. She performed and had radio engagements
in various musical ensembles as a lead/background vocalist.
She also belonged to the world-renowned "Reverence Gospel Ensemble"
for 3 years and performed/shared with Lalah Hathaway, Renese King and
Natalie Wilson.

Akiko continues to perform live at venues in the Boston area and
records on myriad projects a lead/background vocalist.
